Some unknown treasure hunters dug the 400 years old graves of an ancient cemetery in Karachi, 24News HD TV channel reported on Saturday.
The report said that unknown persons for the reason of hunting for some treasure dug the graves and stole the human skeletons from the cemetery.
An ancient cemetery is located in the middle of the Kathor Gorbanon area in Gadap Town Karachi city.
Residents of the area said that when the locals of the area passed by the ancient graveyard, the bones were scattered near a grave.
Police officials said they have visited the cemetery and started investigations on their own as no one local person contacted them to file a lawsuit.
The police officials said there are a total of 13 ancient graves in the 400-year-old cemetery and only one grave was found excavated. The rest of the graves were closed, the police officials said.
They said there was a rumour in the area that there were treasures in the graves and that someone might have dug them out of greed.
The police officials said they will take legal action if any concrete evidence is found. Anyhow, locals demanded the archaeology department, Sindh government, and security agencies to take legal action against those involved in digging the graves.
