Accepting the request made repeatedly by the Sindh government, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday postponed the local bodies’ (LBs) elections in Karachi, which were due to be held on October 23, 2022, for an indefinite time period, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The decision to put off the polls in seven districts of Sindh capital was the third in recent weeks, and was taken at a special meeting of the ECP, which was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The ECP will meet again after 15 days to set the elections’ date.

The federal government, too, had refused to provide security for the purpose, which probably led to the decision.
