A newly-wed couple was shot dead on Wednesday inside a mosque in Jhelum where they have sought refuge after fearing for their lives, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Rahman Rasool had tied the knot with Saffa only a few days ago.

The young lovebirds were invited by the girl’s family to their home for reconciliation after their freewill marriage but the couple sensing threat sought refuge inside the mosque’s courtyard near Motorway.

But the girl’s family members did not respect even the mosque and shot both of them dead.

A local shepherd alerted the police about the killings inside the mosque.

A police team took the bodies into custody and started investigation.
