In a swift change of fortunes, Pakistan has reclaimed the first position in the ICC ODI team rankings thanks to the Australian team, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to reports, Australia once again suffered at the hands of South Africa, causing them to relinquish their position at the top of the ODI cricket world.
Despite India's recent triumph in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, they currently occupy the second spot in the ODI rankings.
It is noted that Pakistan did not clinch the Asia Cup title, but their consistent performance in other matches propelled them to reclaim the coveted number-one ranking.
Presently, both Pakistan and India share a rating of 115 points in the ICC ODI rankings. However, Pakistan edges ahead with a lead in decimal points, solidifying their position as the top-ranked ODI team.
In the midst of this ranking shuffle, the Australian cricket team has now moved to the third position with a total of 113 points, intensifying the competition at the summit of ODI cricket.
Cricket enthusiasts are in for an exciting showdown as India and Australia are scheduled to face off in a three-match series starting on September 22. This series presents both teams with an opportunity to once again claim the top spot in the rankings.
The series kicks off with the first game in Mohali, followed by the second match in Indore on the 24th, and the final showdown in Baroda on the 27th.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is gearing up for the upcoming World Cup. Their campaign commences with a clash against the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
