Former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that he was disqualified by a five-member bench only because he did not receive a salary from his son, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a public gathering in Hafizabad, he said if he had not been ousted from power, there would have been no loadshedding in the country, nobody would have been jobless, and electricity and gas would have been cheaper.
“If I had remained the country’s PM, the country would have a special place in the world,” Nawaz said, and vowed to make Pakistan stand on its own feet.
He further said he had been to Hafizabad before, but never ever had he witnessed such scenes.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-N Vice President and the party’s Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz said that the party’s today’s rally was historic.
She added that PML-N had an association with May 28, 1998 when Pakistan had detonated nukes, while the PTI, on the other hand, would always be remembered as a party whose workers were involved in the incidents of violence on May 9.
Those involved in May 9 violence, she added, were those who during their four-year government did nothing for the masses, except bringing destruction to the country in the form of inflation. “On the other hand, we, who detonated nukes, are those who built Pakistan,” she said, and added, “PTI attacked government buildings and army installations on May 9.” Addressing the crowd, Maryam asked them whether they were with the party that was involved in May 9 violence or with the party during whose government, Pakistan exploded nuclear bombs. “Bear this thing in mind that the party, whose workers were involved in vandalism on May 9, could never been sincere to the nation,” she said.
She claimed that the party would emerge victorious in the general elections, and deliver on the promises it had made to the people.
Maryam went on to say that these days Nawaz kept pondering as to how he could eliminate poverty, give jobs to the youth, bring down gas and electricity rates and build colleges and universities after coming to power.
