The Motorway Police early Sunday closed multiple sections of Punjab’s motorways due to heavy fog that blanketed several cities, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Motorway M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-3 from Lahore to Multan, M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, M-5 from Multan to Uch Sharif, and M-11 from Lahore to Sialkot were all shut down to ensure public safety.
According to Motorway Police spokesman Syed Imran Ahmad, the dense fog also reduced visibility on the National Highway, particularly in areas such as Thokar Niaz Baig, Pattoki, Okara, and Sahiwal.
He said the decision to close motorways was taken in the interest of public safety. The spokesman urged drivers to maintain lane discipline, as violations could lead to severe accidents. He also advised travelers to schedule their journeys during daylight hours, recommending the 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. window for safer travel.
Motorway Police advised motorists to use both front and rear lights and maintain a safe distance between vehicles to avoid accidents. In case of emergencies or guidance, travelers were asked to contact the Motorway Police Helpline at 130.
