District Magistrate Shahzad Anjum Sidhu Thursday discharged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Moazzam Khan Jatoi from an anti-corruption case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The anti-corruption authorities had requested a 14-day physical remand of Jatoi, but his lawyers opposed the request, arguing that he had no role in the awarding of a controversial road contract.
They contended that Jatoi was not involved in any corruption related to the contract's allotment or the alleged use of poor materials.
Following the court's decision, workers from Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) raised slogans in favour of Moazzam Khan Jatoi and party's founder Imran Khan.
The anti-corruption case had accused Jatoi, a former Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), of allotting the road contract to a favoured contractor, which purportedly resulted in the use of substandard materials and subsequent corruption.
