Govt plans to give ‘subsidized petrol’ to low-income classes

The federal government has decided to give a ‘petrol relief package’ to the low-income classes existing in the country.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the government is working on a petrol subsidy plan to provide relief to people of low-income classic having motorbikes, rickshaws, and small vehicles.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a significant step towards alleviating the burden on the lower and middle-income groups by announcing that the federal government will offer subsidized petrol up to Rs50 per litre to motorcyclists, rickshaws and car drivers having 800 CC or below vehicles.
In this regard, PM Shahbaz Sharif was briefed by the Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik on the petrol relief package here on Sunday.
In the meeting, a petroleum relief package of up to Rs50 per litre was decided to give the low-income people.
PM Shehbaz had already tasked Musadik Malik to develop a method for providing subsidized petrol to poor motorcycle owners.
During a previous meeting of the cabinet, the premier sought details from the state minister, who responded that multiple meetings had been held and a cross-subsidy mechanism had been developed.
Prime Minister said that motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles are the ride of low-income people and a subsidy on fuel will give relief to them.
Shehbaz Sharif also issued directions to all institutions to make a comprehensive strategy to initiate the plan as soon as possible.
The premier also advised including all low-income consumers using small vehicles including 800 CC.
