The Capital Development Authority (CDA) of Islamabad introduced an official mascot ‘MarGo’ to enhance the city’s identity and promote cultural significance, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
This mascot, which resembles a cheetah, is set to become the new identity of Islamabad.
MarGo, a stylish cheetah adorned with sunglasses and a muffler, symbolises the vitality, swift progress, and dynamism of Islamabad.
The name ‘MarGo’ is derived from ‘Mar’, representing the Margalla Hills, and ‘Go’, signifying prosperity or flourishing.
This combination reflects the cosmopolitan nature of the capital and its continuous growth.
The CDA board has approved this initiative, and the Asian Cheetah, a species at risk of extinction, has been chosen as the mascot. This decision not only promotes the city but also highlights the importance of wildlife conservation.
MarGo will be prominently displayed at all main entrances, tourist spots, major parks, and metro stations of Islamabad.
Also, the mascot will be placed at different locations such as the Pak-China Center, Convention Center, Margalla Trails, and various educational and cultural institutions of Islamabad.
This initiative aims to highlight the positive identity of Islamabad and give it a unique identity like other global cities.
Officials have stated that through this tourist logo, the Margalla Hills will be promoted at the global level.
Additionally, efforts for the survival of the cheetah, which is at risk of extinction, will also be highlighted.
