Efforts on to host all Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan: PCB chief

The Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Syed Mohsin Naqvi Monday said all efforts are being made to hold all the Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to media persons in National Bank Cricket Stadium Karachi during the PSL 9 final match, he maintained that the issue of the Champions Trophy was on the agenda of the ICC.
“We are hopeful of hosting the trophy,” he said adding that Champions Trophy matches will be held in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. “Meeting with Jay Shah, Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India during the ICC meeting was remained successful.”
He disclosed that four to five pitches are being built in NCA Lahore. “Soil is being imported from Australia and England for the preparation of wickets”, he said.

The minister said that the search for the national head coach is on and a decision is expected within a week in this regard.
He continued that they have decided to empower selection committee of the national team more to make important decisions.
“The selection committee should be more and more powerful and that nobody should have power to interfere into its affairs,” he said, adding that the selection committee would also be empowered to make decisions about the captaincy.
PCB chairman said that appointment of coaches for the national cricket team would also be made soon. “The decision about appointments of Chief Selector and other postings would also be made within a week.”
The minister also hinted to bring necessary changes in the PCB with the aim to conduct 9000 domestic matches in the next four months.
To a question, he replied that the talks of Shane Watson's appointment came out prematurely causing problems.
