Power 'tariff hike terror' looms: Nepra to take plea for Rs 5 per unit increase on March 28

People are likely to face a Rs5 per unit increase in electricity tariff for a month, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested Nepra to increase the power tariff hike in February's fuel adjustment.

Nepra will take up the plea on March 28. People will bear the burden of more than 40 billion rupees if Nepra gives the go-ahead for the hike.

According to the CPPA, in February, 24.77 per cent of electricity was generated from water, 13.94 per cent from local coal, 1.89 per cent from imported coal, 11.04 per cent from local gas, 20.33 per cent from imported LNG and 23.29 per cent from nuclear fuel.
