NAB team grills PTI chairman over £190 m Al-Qadir Trust case

A team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Saturday initiated an investigation into the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust scandal, questioning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.  

The 3-member NAB team led by Deputy Director Raheel Azam and tasked with scrutinizing the alleged financial irregularities involving the former prime minister conducted a seven-hour-long investigation session at Adiala Jail today.

The team, including two new officers, conducted thorough inquiries and examined various documents during the extensive seven-hour probe. The anti-graft body team questioned many papers and pieces of evidence relevant to the case during the investigation.

After completing the investigation, the NAB team returned to Islamabad from Adiala Jail.

The investigation, which took place beyond 4 PM, witnessed the active participation of key NAB officials.

Earlier, the NAB team requested a 10-day remand during the hearing in the case held in Adiala Jail, which was presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir the day before.

But the judge only granted a four-day remand, delaying the matter until November 21.

Additionally, Bushra Begum's bail in the case was extended by the court until November 21.

Khan is already in custody in the cipher case, brought under the Official Secrets Act, and whose trials have only taken place in jail.

But officials recently obtained warrants for his arrest in the £190 million and Toshakhana cases. Later, he was taken into custody from jail.

He is still being held in the £190 million case even though the IHC granted his bail motion in the Toshakhana case.
