The National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued a warning to government agencies and ministries about a systematic phishing email campaign aimed at compromising their systems, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The advisory revealed that several government agencies are being targeted through fraudulent emails designed to steal sensitive information.
The advisory cautioned that clicking on links in these phishing emails could lead to the compromise of official documents, as attackers are using fake email addresses and leveraging IP addresses and cloud infrastructure to deceive government employees. The phishing emails contain PDFs and links designed to resemble official document submissions, which could result in stolen usernames and passwords.
The National CERT recommended that all government agencies, ministries, divisions, and their subsidiaries strengthen their cybersecurity measures, particularly email security, to prevent further attacks.
Additionally, it urged government bodies to handle official documents securely and share threat intelligence to mitigate cyber threats.
