Razak Dawood buoyed by decline in imports, surge in exports

Adviser to PM on Commerce and Investment Razak Dawood has announced that the country has started witnessing a decline in imports as Pakistan recorded strong growth in exports during the first half of the current financial year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a series of tweets uploaded on Sunday, Razak Dawood said there were early indications that the growth in imports has started to decrease. “Imports during December 2021 declined $6.9 billion as compared to $7.9 billion in November 2021. There is a difference of one billion dollars while the import projection for December 2021 was $6.2 billion,” he added.

Talking about exports, he said the Ministry of Commerce would like to share that during December 2021 Pakistan’s exports had increased by 16.7 percent to $2.671 billion as compared to $2.366 billion in December 2020. The export target for the month was $2.8 billion, he added.

In another tweet, Razak Dawood said during the first half of the current FY (Jul-Dec 2021), exports increased by 25% to %15.125 billion as compared to $12.110 billion during Jul-Dec 2020. The export target for first half of this FY was $15 billion, he further said.

He said the government will share further details on categories of exports and imports during Dec 2021 as soon as these are compiled.
