Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Javed Latif said on Wednesday he had no plans to seek bail in the case registered against him for making anti-state speech, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He was responding to the question of a journalist after appearing in the court of Judicial Magistrate Ahsan Raza at Model Town Katchehry in Lahore.

Earlier, during the hearing of the case when the judge asked the PML-N leader whether he wanted to say something, he replied that he wanted an end to the practice of labelling opponents as ‘traitors’. “Pointing out weaknesses in the state institutions is not an act of treason,” he argued.

Latif told the court that he had taken the oath to protect institutions. “And if I have to say something to point out flaws in them, I will continue to do so,” he expressed the resolve.

He further said Pakistan was not the country of ‘selected few’. “I cannot call Pakistan Khapey (Pakistan zindabad) if it belonged to few individuals or institutions,” he said categorically.

Later the court extended the PML-N leader’s judicial remand till June 9.
