May 2, 2020 02:00 PM

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Shoaib Dastgir has issued a new standing order seeking a ban to the practice of transfers of the officers by their superiors, besides issuing new directives about transfers of the officials, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Now a constable will require an RPO or DPO’s no-objection certificate (NOC) in order to be transferred from one district to another. The DPOs will check personally the records of the junior officers getting transferred from one region to another, and no transfer will take place without a personal hearing.

In case any official is involved in any inquiry or facing any show cause notice, he will not be able to seek transfer.

Now all the appointments and transfers will take place under HRIM system, and an official will seek immediate transfer to the concerned district under the wedlock policy.

In addition, the order prescribes ten-year precondition of service if any constable or head constable prefers to serve in his own district. The same applies to ASIs and sub-inspectors.

Also, ten-year service is also mandatory for a constable or head constable if he wants to work in a particular unit.

However, an official cannot seek transfer to another unit if he is more than 56.

No officer of sub-inspector rank will be sent to any unit where he had previously served over three years.

Moreover, a deputation of no more than three to five years will be extended to any official seeking deputation from police to another department.
