PPP’s Khurshid Shah sees elections in country next year

Emphasizing that general elections should be held on time, former federal minister and senior PPP leader Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah said on Saturday that he did not see elections in near future, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to media during his visit to Jacobabad, he said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had itself said that the elections would now be held after new demarcations. “If that is the case, elections may be held either in February or March next year,” he predicted.
He, however, said even if elections were held on the basis of new delineations, there would be a delay by two months only.
Khurshid said that the killers of senior journalist Jan Muhammad Mehr had been arrested. “One of them is hiding in the katcha area, and he will be arrested soon,” he hoped.
Former federal minister appreciated the police for arresting the assassins at the earliest.
Earlier, he visited the residence of former member of Sindh Assembly Aslam Abrro and offered his condolences to him over the death of his brother and nephew.
Former provincial minister for jail Ijaz Jakhrani and District Council Kashmore Chairman Gul Muhammad Jakhrani accompanied Khurshid on the visit.
