Poland not part of any US sanctions imposed on Pakistani companies: Envoy

Polish Ambassador to Pakistan Maciej Pisarski has suggested that Pakistan’s internal situation should be resolved through dialogue between the government and the opposition, adding that “the country enjoys vibrant democracy and “I do not think that anyone from outside could help it,” reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

While addressing a briefing at the embassy in Islamabad the other day, Maciej Pisarski said ties between Pakistan and Poland are more than six decades old.

“The mutual trade volume between Poland and Pakistan has crossed 876 million euros during 2023. During 2024 the Polish non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have assisted Pakistan with $5 M on account of medicine, food, education and health,” he added.

To a question, Maciej Pisarski made it crystal clear: “We are not part of any US sanctions imposed on four Pakistani commercial entities on account of Islamabad’s missile programme.”

He said that in the past Poland and Pakistan had worked together on various occasions in the United Nations.  

On Palestine, the polish ambassador noted that the two-state solution is the only say out for the Palestine issue in which the Palestinians should have a right to co-exist alongside Israel in a peaceful manner. During the past one year, Poland has assisted Palestine with $14.5M aid, he added.

About Russian aggression against Ukraine, Maciej Pisarski stressed this conflict has changed the security architecture of the Europe. Poland was the first country who provided Ukraine with the military assistance including ammunition, arms, armoured personnel carriers, tanks, choppers, fighter planes and the satellite systems, he said and added, Poland condemns the Russian attempts to intensify the Ukraine war, the deployment of the North Korean troops in Ukraine and the deployment of the medium-range hypersonic ballistic missiles against Ukraine.

On Ukrainian refugees, the ambassador was of the view that in wake of the Ukrainian war over one million refugees have taken shelter in Poland out of which 65 percent are working there. The war has brought an influx of refugees from Polish-Belarusian border as well which numbers in thousands, he added.

Responding to a question, Maciej Pisarski cautioned that any threat regarding a nuclear flashpoint in Europe should be taken seriously.
