Shortage of expensive medicines for the treatment of coronavirus at Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences has forced patients to purchase them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Patients are facing lot of difficulties as the hospital has also run out of stock of life-saving ACTEMRA injections each of which costs Rs50,000.
The non-availability of injections has put the lives of several patients at risk.
The situation has created room for philanthropists to step in, and provide much-needed injections and medicines to the patients which were previously being provided to them by the government.
Spokesman for the PIMS Dr Wasim Khawaja has said that despite the fact that hospital management is confronted with the problem, still all possible efforts were being made to provide facilities to all patients, including those affected by the coronavirus.
