Six policemen were martyred and two suicide bombers were killed in two different terror hits in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to police sources, at least 12 people including policemen were injured in the terrorist attacks in Khyber and Peshawar districts.
Strict scanning at the entry and exit points of Peshawar city was initiated after firing by the terrorists at the entry checkpoint of Regi police station in Peshawar. Two policemen were injured in the attack.
On the other hand, those injured in the Bara tehsil compound attack in Khyber district were shifted to a nearby hospital, Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Faizi said.
One injured was shifted to HMC, three to a local hospital and six were given on-the-spot medical treatment.
One person was buried under the rubble as the roof of the compound collapsed as a result of the explosion.
Heavy machinery of Rescue 1122 was also dispatched to the spot for a rescue operation.
An exchange of fire also occurred between the police and terrorists. Two suicide bombers attempted to enter the compound from the front and rear gates.
The Peshawar police personnel, however, did not let the terrorists enter the compound and saved it from greater damage by shooting both terrorists dead.
It is to be noted here that the intelligence agencies had alerted Peshawar police about the possible attack on the tehsil compound.
The police were ready to respond to the possible attack, and they successfully thwarted it.
