Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed has said that match-fixing is deep-rooted and people behind this practice are very strong, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Aaqib Javed said he approached the court to highlight match-fixing during Sri Lanka tour in 1994 with concrete evidence.

He said, “Players were offered match-fixing through former cricketer Salim Pervaiz. I was also warned of serious consequences if not cooperated in the match-fixing.”

“I was told that my cricket career would be ended forever.”

“After that players also offered me money for the match-fixing. I was surprised in the court when every player statement was recorded openly but my statement was recorded behind the closed doors,” Aaqib Javed said.

“I informed Justice Qayyum about everything but in the final report, only one and a half minute talk outside the recording was included,” he added.

He said large-sized vehicles and Rs5 million was deposited in each player’s account.

He criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to take 29 players and 14 supporting staff on the England tour. He said it was like to please everyone and as if the Pakistan team has to play 30 Test matches in England and every day five players would be unfit.
