Nawaz Sharif’s agri land auctioned for Rs112.1 million

The auction of 88-kanal-and-four-marla land of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif was completed on Thursday at Sheikhupura’s Municipal Hall following the order of Islamabad High Court (IHC) which had thrown out the petitions filed by Nawaz and others against the auction, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The district administration had fixed the schedule rate at Rs7 million per acre. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asghar Joeya has said that the amount collected from the auction would be deposited in the national exchequer.

Trader Muhammad Boota Virk bought 88-kanal and four marla agriculture land of three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif located in Feroze Wattwan. However, Sarfraz Virk and Khurram Virk also participated in the auction process.

Muhammad Boota placed the highest bid of over Rs10 million per acre which qualified him as the top bidder. Resultantly, the land was sold to him for over Rs112.1 million.

A five-member committee including Sheikhupura additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) Faisal Saleem were present during the bidding process. 

A person named Muhammad Ashraf appeared with the claim that he had purchased the land from the former prime minister in 2014 but since Nawaz went abroad for treatment, he could not get the land transferred in his name and the case was pending at the civil court. The authorities advised Muhammad Ashraf to move court for relief.

The administration earlier said if less than three persons participated in the bidding process, the auction would be deemed to have been cancelled.
