There is definitely an obsession for fair skin in Pakistan: Zoya Nasir

Zoya Nasir is one of the most exciting young actors in Pakistan’s television industry. She has also, in every serial, transformed herself and become the character that she was entrusted with.  

Zoya opens up about the obsession that is prevalent among people for fair skin and calls it the total objectification of women.

In an interview, she said: “Channel chase white girls because its demand of the public. On one side Pakistani people ask to stop the endorsements of whitening creams and on the other hand they don’t like black and fat girls on screen. And if they see white and slim girls on screen they will start calling them plastic beauty.”

She further added, “Companies need ratings and they know when they bring a white and slim girl whether she knows acting or not she is liked the most. There are many dark skinned girls who proved their talent.”

“I signed a few project before my turkey trip but when I came back to resign with the company they started asking me weird questions. Like why have you become so tan? And they suggested me to get whitening injections,” she said.
