The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has failed to decide on the implementation of the Supreme Court's (SC) order about clarification on the matter of reserved seats, leading to an inconclusive end to the meeting.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Chief Election Commissioner CEC chaired the meeting in which the legal team of the commission briefed him about the new Election Amendment Act and its implications.
During the meeting, the legal team presented their suggestions regarding the Election Act and the Supreme Court's decision, noting that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is not eligible for reserved seats due to not providing a list of candidates and lacking an organisational structure.
The legal team further explained that without a party certificate, a party's organisational structure is considered incomplete.
In light of the legal complexities, the ECP has asked the legal team for final recommendations on implementing the Supreme Court's decision in accordance with the Election Act.
The sources said the crucial meeting will reconvene tomorrow to further discuss and resolve the issue.
