Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Speaker Babar Sattar Swati has pushed the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to allocate immediately the reserved seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following the Supreme Court orders.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, KP Speaker Swati wrote a comprehensive two-page letter to the CEC on Friday, urging the immediate allocation of reserved seats in the assembly.
Citing his responsibility as the custodian of the KP Assembly, Swati emphasised that the delay in the allocation is a violation of justice, particularly after the Supreme Court ruling on the matter.
The speaker highlighted that any further delay, following the court’s decision, undermines the Constitution and fair play.
KP Speaker Swati said, "I am the custodian of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, that is why I wrote the letter."
Swati said in the letter to CEC that the Supreme Court has given a decision on the appeal against the decision of the Peshawar High Court in the reserved seats case.
The speaker made it clear that the Supreme Court has issued a decision on reserved seats in the light of the Constitution, so the matter should not be delayed.
