Registrar's Office raises several objections on lawyers plea in SC against proposed amendments

Supreme Court Registrar's office has raised several objections to a petition filed by six members of the Bar Council challenging a proposed constitutional amendment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Registrar's office claimed that the draft amendment cannot be challenged in the Supreme Court as it is proposed amendment bill. The petitioners have raised questions based on assumptions.

Registrar's Office pointed out that lawmakers have right to legislation but the petitioners have not made lawmakers as party in the petition.

The federal government, provinces, and the President have been made party but they were not members of parliament. The Registrar's office further stated that under the constitution, Parliament's legislative authority cannot be limited by the constitution.

The legislative power vested in the Legislature under the Constitution cannot be limited before it becomes law. Supreme Court Registrar's office therefore claimed that the lawyers should not be become parties under the law.
