Slogans like family honour are the best tool to camouflage your real intentions. It fact, it is the most effective weapon to forward your agenda and settle financial and property disputes, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
That’s why a 70-year-old woman in Ghotki is now pleading for help to save her life as her stepson accused her of karo-kari – the term used in Sindh for those accused of damaging family honour. And the reason behind this horrific allegation against the stepmother is that he wants to grab the land.
According to details, Ghulam Mustafa forced Ghulam Fatima to leave her house after levelling the charge which is considered a stigma in our society.
Later, Ghulam Fatima – who suffers from a lever-related disease – along with her daughters and brothers staged a protest and said her stepson wanted to occupy the family land.
She appealed to the Ghotki SSP to help her, as Ghulam Mustafa and others want to kill her.
Ghulam Fatima said Ghulam Mustafa had made her life a hell since the death of her husband 10 years ago.
Ghotki and other parts of Sindh along with the adjoining areas of Balochistan and Punjab are notorious for honour killings as people tend to accuse their targets of damaging the family honour by labelling them as karo-kari. Karo is used for black men and kari for black women, where the word black refers to bad character.
