Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has asked the provincial government to provide relief to the people in the electricity bills just like what the Punjab government has done, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In a letter to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, the governor has asked him to cut down the provincial government’s expenditures so that the people could be provided relief. “At least slash the power tariff by Rs14 per unit for the households consuming up to 500 units of electricity for August and September,” he has said, adding, “This will certainly be a good step, and would not only reduce burden on the people’s purse, who are already grappling with inflation, but will also enhance the prestige of the Sindh government.”
Otherwise, Tessori has said, a sense of deprivation will increase in the people of the province, and they will feel neglected.
In the end, the governor writes that he is optimistic that the provincial government will take this step to rescue the people during these tough times. “I am looking forward to a positive response from you,” he has written to the CM.
