Interbank market unresponsive to govt formation deal

The Pakistani rupee registered a marginal gain against the US dollar in the interbank market on Wednesday despite positive news from political front about the deal for formation of a government at the Centre, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the figures received from money dealers, the local currency appreciated by 27 paisas against the greenback and was currently being traded at Rs279.30.
On Tuesday, the Pakistani rupee had depreciated by 21 paisas to settle at Rs279.57 against the US dollar.
In a key development, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had struck a deal to form a coalition government at the Centre.
The understanding was reached at a meeting of the senior leadership of the two parties, including PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari followed by a joint presser, which was also joined by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and other senior leaders of the two parties late on Tuesday.
