Siraj Ul Haq criticizes elections outcome, calls for upholding democratic values

Jamaat-e-Islami emir Sirajul Haque Tuesday expressed concerns over the integrity of the nation's democratic process, asserting that the fate of the nation was compromised not at the polling stations but in the aftermath of the events on the night of February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Addressing to the central council of Jamiat-e-Islami at Mansoora, Haque acknowledged what he termed as the "remarkable victory" of PML-N, PP, and MQM, asserting that this election outcome would be etched in memory.

He criticized the journey from selected to imported and defected prime minister, emphasizing the continued erosion of democratic principles and values.

The 2024 election, according to Haque, stands out in democratic history as a unique instance where the winners appear more apprehensive than the losers.

He lamented the disappointment of the youth, emphasizing that vote theft only serves to deepen their disillusionment.

Addressing the council members, Siraj pledged unwavering commitment to uphold the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law, calling for an end to electoral rigging and the establishment of civilian supremacy in the country.

He underscored the importance of respecting the decisions made by the people, highlighting the need for vigilant efforts to counter the challenges posed by the dictatorship, which targets Pakistani youth.

JI emir urged the workers to intensify its struggle for character building among the youth and the improvement of the education system.

The JI central leaders including Azhar Iqbal Hasan and Mohammad Asghar, Jamaat-e-Islami Spokesperson Qaiser Sharif, Nazim-e-Ala Islami Jamiat Talaba Shakeel Ahmed, and Secretary General Islami Jamiat Talaba Asad Ali Qureshi were present along with others.
