The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) has been arrested with drugs and porn videos and photos of female professors and students on his mobile.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, IUB's CSO Syed Ejaz Hussain Shah was arrested by the Bahawalpur police when he tried to run away in his car from the picket.
During a search, the police recovered 10 grams of crystal ice, sex stimulation drugs and mobile phones in which he has pron videos of some teaching staff and students of the university.
Police arrested him and registered a case under Section 9(2)1 of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 against the Chief Security Officer of Bahawalpur University.
There is a surprise in the FIR that the police registered the case under only one section related to having prohibited drugs and avoided mentioning the pornography charges.
CSO Ejaz Shah is the second officer of Islamia University Bahawalpur who is arrested with drugs in a month. Some days ago, University's Finance Director Abu Bakr was also arrested by the police and like Ejaz Shah, drugs were also recovered from his possession. Abu Bakr has been released on bail.
Explanation of the University Management
Anyhow, the University management has announced to hold the drug test of the employees.
The spokesperson of the IUB explained in a statement issued here on Thursday that the perception that drugs and sexual harassment are common on campus is false.
The spokesperson said the impression of not taking action on sexual harassment incidents in the university is also not correct because the complaints from students, teachers and staff are processed immediately.
The spokesperson said the arrest of two officers in recent days is unfortunate and the university authorities have decided to administer the drug test of all the employees including the Vice Chancellor.
The spokesperson also said that the drug tests will be conducted from a reputed laboratory and the registrar of the IUB will ensure transparency in this process.
