The Punjab government has challenged the Lahore High Court (LHC) decision to discharge PTI leader and social media activist Sanam Javed from the Gujranwala case, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

In this regard, the provincial government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

This appeal has been made through the mediation of the Prosecutor General, highlighting the government's dissatisfaction with the LHC's ruling.

The petition contended that the LHC while accepting Sanam Javed's surveillance application, disregarded the prosecution's stance.

The government maintained that significant evidence and testimony were overlooked, particularly from a promissory witness who had testified against Sanam Javed.

In the case where several individuals are currently undergoing trial, the dismissal of the case against Sanam Javed has been described as inconsistent with the overall proceedings.

The Punjab government insisted that the exclusion of Sanam Javed from the case undermined the integrity of the judicial process, where justice should be uniformly applied to all accused parties.

The Punjab government appealed to the Supreme Court to annul the Lahore High Court’s decision, thereby reinstating the case against Sanam Javed.
