Attorney General of Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan has filed the presidential reference in Supreme Court seeking interpretation of Article 63-A in the court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

The reference seeks court’s ruling on horse-trading and what should be done if party members are clearly involved in changing their loyalty for exchange of money? Whether the dissident members will be disqualified for life due to their materialistic interests or they will be able to run for re-election?

While talking to the media, the AGP said that he would file the presidential reference after some while and would represent the president himself. He said the reference raised questions about the renegade members.

President Arif Alvi Sunday night approved the summary of a reference against the PTI’s dissident parliamentarians to be filed in the Supreme Court today (Monday).

The federal cabinet has already approved the summary. The PTI seeks lifetime disqualification of the dissident parliamentarians.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the reference was prepared by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to determine the legal status of the defecting MNAs of PTI before the day of the vote of no-confidence.

The reference questions when party members are clearly involved in horse-trading, what is the legal status of their vote if they change loyalties for money.

In the reference, it has also been stated that due to monetary interests, such disaffected members will be disqualified for a lifetime or able to contest elections again?

The reference is going to be filed in the Supreme Court under Article 186.

The sources said the SC will also be asked to hear the reference on a daily basis.
