The leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Monday accused National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser of violating the Constitution by not calling a session of the House on time for voting on the no-confidence motion, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court, former Senate chairman Farooq Hamid Naek said that the NA speaker delayed the session of the House on the pretext of renovation of the Parliament building.

He said that the speaker had violated the Constitution and an action should be taken against him under Article 6.

He stated that only the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) could disqualify a parliamentarian and added: “The constitutional process is being sabotaged.”

Meanwhile, PPP vice president Sherry Rehman said that the NA session was delayed on the pretext of renovation of the Parliament building.

“Couldn’t this be done earlier?” she questioned and said that it was the violation of the Constitution by the NA speaker.
