The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) Justice Mansoor Ali Khan released a written verdict of the singer Meesha Shafi harassment case and allowed them to record her statement via video link from Canada, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court has granted permission because the singer has been residing in Canada with her two children.
The verdict maintained that the signer asked for the video link facility and Meesha Shafi was not supposed to come to Pakistan merely to record her statement in the case.
Also, Meesha Shafi does not need to go to the Embassy of Pakistan in Canada and she would appear before the court via an online platform. The court said that cross-examination was being held for the past eight months.
The verdict reads that during cross-examination the judge should not sit as a silent spectator and needed to act when feels that one party was using the cross-examination wrongly or for delaying tactics.
The court said that Meehsa Shafi's statement was extremely important in the harassment case and her virtual presence would be enough as it is the right time to use modern technology in courts.
