Abbasi calls for grand dialogue amid political stalemate

Awam Pakistan Party holds a dialogue to review prevalent security, economic and political challenges in the country, which was attended by more than 30 experts including former bureaucrats, ex-army officers and others, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


After the meeting, former prime minister and Awam Pakistan chief Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told media that more than three hours long meeting covered various topic of national importance. During the meeting, all members of the dialogue were agreed that in order to end political impasses, all political parties has move one steps back from their political point of view. Abbasi said “if the political stalemate continue, the country's economy cannot develop and it was necessary to talk about the country not about institutions. He said we have to get out of ourselves and join hands for reforms in the country.


Abbasi said there was need of grand dialogue. He said all the political parties will have to move forward with consensus to determine the path within the constitution. The country's policies should be made for the people, today's policies are for the elite class, it is easy for them to take over the country.


The former PM said, “elite class thinks that they don't care about the people and it best example is the recent constitutional amendment. They said we will amend for ourselves and will not even show the draft constitution to 24 crore people”.


Abbasi said social contract is needed, law amendments should be for the people and not for the elite. He demanded that similar discussions will be held in other cities of Pakistan.
