During a visit to the frontlines on the Pak-Afghan border, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir said Saturday that nothing was more sacred for the soldiers than protecting the borders, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The COAS offered Eid prayers with the officers and soldiers deployed on the frontlines in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The COAS appreciated the high morale of the soldiers and stated that Pakistan Army was determined to defend the borders of the country.
“Pakistan Army is always ready to ensure national security and thwart any threat. The defenders of the country, away from their loved ones, put their obligation first on difficult routes and in harsh weather conditions,” he pointed out.
The COAS also paid glowing tribute to the martyrs and expressed his best wishes for their families.
“On the day of Eid, we should never forget those who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the motherland and ending the scourge of terrorism,” he stressed.
Also, the COAS appreciated the operational preparedness and diligence of the soldiers and officers.
Earlier, Corps Commander Peshawar welcomed the COAS on his arrival.
