Anti-polio campaign begins with focus on 12,000 refusing parents

A seven-day immunization campaign against poliovirus has been started in the provincial capital Peshawar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with a special focus to target 12,000 refusing parents in different areas of the city.
According to 24 News TV Channel Monday, 866,000 children under 5 years of age will be administered polio drops during the 7-day campaign. The 2500 mobile and 1800 transit teams will participate in the campaign. Additional security personnel is deployed to provide safety to the workers. There are still 12,000 reluctant parents in different areas of the city, for which steps are being taken.
It is pertinent that the anti-polio campaign will be conducted in 29 districts of KP. More than 62 lakh children in the province have been targeted for immunization against polio. Thirteen cases of polio have been reported from North Waziristan and one from Lakki Marwat in the current year.
