Around 3,000 employees risk losing their jobs as the government has decided to close down a thermal power house at Muzaffargarh having the capacity to generate 1,350 megawatts of electricity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Quoting sources, the channel reported that the power station would come to a complete halt in 2022.
The sources further said the stock of furnace oil at the power station had been below dead level for the last one year.
While the station’s units no 1, 2 and 3 are functional, the generator of unit no 4 has not been functioning for the last one year.
It is pertinent to mention here that the thermal power house at Muzaffargarh had even remained non-functional when there was a countrywide blackout around two weeks ago.
Geneco-III’s licence of the thermal power house is valid until 2030.
