Massive fire sweeps shopping plaza in Peshawar, guts 200 shops

A massive fire swept a shopping plaza in Peshawar gutting about 200 shops with fire-brigade personnel struggling to douse the blaze despite efforts spanning on several hours on Monday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The fire broke out in the Time Shopping Plaza located in Saddar area of the provincial capital.
The fire-brigade and 1122 Rescue personnel continued their operation to extinguish the flames.

The Time Shopping Plaza houses shops containing mobile phones, accessories and other related equipment.
According to 1122 officials, 10 fire engines, two water bowsers, three ambulances and 60 fire-fighters are taking part in the operation.
The fire which was started late last night was reportedly caused by a short-circuit.

Gas cylinder blast
Two people including a child were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a house located in Kashal No 4.
The blast triggered a fire which engulfed the whole house.
The fire-fighters, however, were able to quickly bring the fire under control.
The injured were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
