The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday said categorically that the impression that it had a bias against a particular political party was totally false, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a declaration on the MNA Adil Bazai disqualification case, the ECP spokesman said that the commission had again uploaded its verdict in the case on its website. “Commentators are asked to first read the decision carefully before giving their opinion so that they could know which institution is partial, and which is not.”
As per the record, Bazai was elected as an MNA in the February 8, 2024 general elections as a PTI-backed independent candidate.
The notification of his electoral win was issued on February 15.
Bazai submitted the affidavit of his joining the PML-N to the party’s high command on February 16.
The election commission received the affidavit on February 18, which it ratified one day later on February 19.
The ECP, on April 25, intimated the National Assembly that the MNA had joined the PML-N.
Furthermore, Bazai did not utter a word about his party association from April 25 to November 2.
Later when a reference was filed against him by National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on November 2, the MNA approached a court in Balochistan.
As per the reference, he did not vote in favour of the Finance Bill.
He also abstained from voting on the 26th constitutional amendment.
Following that, he was declared ineligible to retain the seat of an MNA.
