Senate Standing Committee on Finance bars FBR from buying new vehicles

The Standing Committee on Finance has stopped Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from buying vehicles for field officers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Senator Saleem Mandviwala chaired the Standing Committee meeting.
Chairman Committee inquired that why FBR is buying 1,000 vehicles.
Finance Ministry officials told the meeting that these vehicles are being bought for field officers.
Did field officers ride bicycles earlier, Saleem Maundviwala further inquired.
The committee members expressed their anger over issue of buying 1,000 vehicles worth billions of rupees.
Senator Faisal Vawda said that FBR is buying vehicles from a specific company.

He questioned that is FBR buying from this to fill the tax gap?
Faisal Vawda demanded that this should be stopped for now and then talk about purchasing through a committee.
