Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Senator Raza Rabbani has demanded a new accountability law in the Senate session.

He said that a new accountability law should be brought by forming a committee of the house.

Senator Raza Rabbani said that Justice Maqbool Baqar of the Supreme Court had delivered a historic verdict in the Khawaja Saad Rafique case. And if the parliament does not play its role after the Supreme Court decision, then we will be remembered as guilty in the history.

He said other courts would have to abide by the decision in bail cases. The Senate made recommendations for swift justice but they were not implemented.

Raza Rabbani suggested that the parliament should decide on a new accountability law keeping in view the decision of the Supreme Court. A new federal accountability law is needed. There should be same law and procedure for everyone, he added.

“There should be no sacred cows,” he said. A parliamentary committee of both the houses should be formed. A new accountability law will have to be brought within the time frame by forming a committee, said Rabbani.

Addressing the Senate session, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan said that no one knows whose agenda our government is following. People from out of the country have been put in the cabinet, which is against the law.

Mushahid Ullah said that government did not do any favour by revealing the assets, they had committed a crime because they hid the assets. He said now ask them for money trail, they did not pay taxes in Pakistan.
