Survey to check Punjab police investigation system completed

An online secret survey has been completed to check the police investigation system in all the districts of Punjab including Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to police authorities, in none of the districts followed the standard of investigation come up as per the SOPs while defects came to light in large number.

However, a letter of advice was issued to the officers of 36 districts including Sub-Divisional  Police Officer (SDPO) Investigation Defense Lahore and a report was sent to IG Punjab for issue of show cause.

During the last one month, the performance of SDPO of each district across Punjab was reviewed online by each circle, said police officials.

According to survey report, the lack of interest in the investigation of SDPO rank officers came to light.

In cases of serious crime, most of the SDPOs do not visit the crime scene, said police officials.

According to the survey report, PSFA is not called in many cases and important evidence is lost by not calling the PSFA, Police authorities said.

Often the SDPOs do not register in the supplementary after the visit, police officials revealed.

Timely challan and interim challan of cases are not submitted due to which the cases get delayed, Police officials further said.

Additional IG Investigations expressed disappointment over the poor performance of the supervisory officers and sent the report of the survey to Inspector General of Police Punjab.

IG Punjab will issue show-cause notices to officers for poor performance, Police officials concluded.
