Heatwave grips Punjab and Sindh as mercury rises

Most parts of the country are in the grip of extreme heat these days as day temperatures in Punjab and Sindh are expected to remain six degrees above average from today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Temperatures are also expected to remain six degrees above average in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan due to which there is a risk of melting of glaciers.

Not only unusually high temperatures have been forecast during the day but also at nighttime.

Minimum temperatures in different parts of the country are also on the rise.

Plains of Punjab bake amid no forecast for rain  

Scorching heat in Lahore and other parts of Punjab has made the lives of people miserable as the temperature rose to 34 degrees Celsius in the morning, and is expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.

The Met Office has said that there are no chances of rain in the Punjab capital and other parts of the province during the next few days.  

Extreme heat persists in Sindh

Karachi is in the grip of hot and humid weather as the temperature which was recorded at 32 degrees Celsius in the morning is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius later in the day.

The absence of sea breeze and excessive moisture in the air has made matters worse.

Wind is blowing at the speed of 12 kilometers per hour, while the level of moisture in the air is 76 per cent.

Extreme heat leads to postponement of exams at Umarkot

Keeping in view soaring temperatures, the district administration of Umarkot has set up camps at different places, while the intermediate exams have also been postponed.

Shikarpur district admin takes steps to provide relief to people

In view of the scorching heat in Shikarpur and its suburbs, Deputy Commissioner Altaf Ahmad Chachar has ordered arrangements for the provision of cold water to the people at different intersections and bus stops in the city.   

The DC has also ordered setting up emergency wards at all city hospitals for the treatment of patients of heatstroke.

Chachar has also directed the concerned power distribution company not to resort to loadshedding when the temperature is at its peak.  

The temperature in the city and its outskirts shot up to 42 degrees Celsius in the morning and is expected to go up to 47 degrees Celsius.

Day temperature rises to 40 degrees Celsius in Islamabad

Just like the other parts of the country, temperatures are also increasing in Islamabad.

The maximum temperature in the federal capital was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Doctors, on the other hand, have advised people to take precautionary measures in order to prevent themselves from falling prey to heatstroke.
