Punjab government has decided to impose sanitation charges of Rs300 for 5 marla and Rs500 for 10 marla houses, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.


On the other hand, in rural areas, Rs200 for up to 10 marla and Rs500 for houses larger than 10 marla will be applicable.


While presiding over a meeting in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered to reduce proposed sanitation charges.


Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed the Local Government Department to reduce the proposed sanitation charges by more than 50 percent.


The meeting was briefed that Punjab has 19.85 million residential units and 2 million commercial units.


Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stopped increasing water charges for hydropower projects.


In the meeting, a proposal was made to increase water charges for private sector hydropower projects.


Maryam Nawaz said that it was feared that electricity would become more expensive due to the increase in water charges of Hydro Power Projects.


Increasing the charges will increase revenue but may increase the price of electricity, will oppose, said Maryam Nawaz.


The meeting also gave approval of funds for Green Pakistan Programme.


The meeting also sanctioned allowance for Accounts Group Member of Punjab Revenue Authority Appellate Tribunal.

I will personally send the women going for Hajj, said Maryam Nawaz.


The meeting also gave approval to include the Sports Complex Gaushala Lahore Project in the Annual Development Plan 2023-24.


The meeting further gave approval to transfer 400 water filtration plants to solar energy in Lahore and Faisalabad.

Meeting approved service charges for PITB on services provided on mobile application ePay Punjab.


It was briefed that a service charge of Rs100 will be applicable on payment of sales tax and Rs15 on other transactions.


Since 2019 so far, 5.4 lakh transactions have been done through ePay Punjab, said in briefing.


An access road will be constructed from Ferozepur Road to Garments City at a cost of Rs 306 million, the briefing said.


Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Finance Minister Mujtabi Shujaur Rahman, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Chairman Planning and Development Board, Secretaries Finance, Law, I&C, Information and Culture, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board and others participated the meeting.
