Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee and given a demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
According to the statement issued by ICC, it was found that Afridi had violated section 2.9 of the ICC's code of conduct for players and player support staff, which was related to "throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment, such as a bottle of water) on or near a player, player support staff, referee, match referee or any other third party in an inappropriate and dangerous manner during an international match.
The incident happened in the 17th over of innings of Bangladesh’s innings, when Afif Hossain played a ball and it went straight to Afridi.
The speedster picked up the ball and threw it towards the stumps, but it hit Afif, knocking him to the ground.
The batsman was inside the crease and apparently had no intention of fleeing.
