GHQ forwards summary for selection of CJCSC and COAS to Defence Ministry: ISPR

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Wednesday ended the confusion surrounding the summary sent by the General Headquarters for the appointment of Chairman Joints Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and Chief of ARmy Staff (COAS).
In a statement, the military's media wing ISPR said the GHQ has forwarded the summary for selection of CJCSC and COAS, containing names of six senior most Lt Generals to the Ministry of Defence.

Earlier, it has been reported that the has handed over the names and dossiers of senior lieutenant generals to the Ministry of Defence and the summary was sent to the Prime Minister's Office after Defence Minister Khawaja Asif's tweet rejecting the news.
Defence Minister Kh Asif said in a tweet that the Prime Minister's Office has not received the summary so far.

According to the seniority list, Lt Gen Asim Munir is at number one, followed by Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and Lt Gen Azhar Abbas.
On the list of three-star generals’ seniority list, the name of Lt-Gen Nauman Mahmood is at the fourth position, former director general of ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed at the fifth and Lt-Gen Muhammad Amir at the sixth.
The COAS and CJCSC will be appointed from among these lieutenant generals.
