The matter of forming a new bench for hearing the review petition in former Pakistan Television (PTV) MD Ataul Haq Qasmi’s appointment case was forwarded to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on Wednesday as Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, one of the judges on the Supreme Court (SC) bench formed to hear the petition, excused himself from hearing the case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A three-member bench, led by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, was due to take up the case for hearing on Wednesday.

The SC had, in 2018, declared Qasmi’s appointment as PTV MD null and void.

The apex court had also ordered the withdrawal of all the facilities Qasmi was entitled to by virtue of his position.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Ishaq Dar, Pervaiz Rashid and former principal secretary to the then prime ministers of the country Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Fawad Hassan Fawad, had together filed the review petition in the apex court.
