The paddy crop in Tangwani, Ghouspur and Ubauro is drying up in an attack of the “leaf curler” insect as the fake and expensive pesticides are ineffective in curtailing the damage, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

Farmers and landowners in these areas have been faced with great trouble as their crops, spread over millions of acres of land, are drying up in the attack.

Farmers said that all the pesticides were fake as none of them had been producing any results.

They added that they had been experiencing a great loss as neither the agriculture department nor the district administration was helping them.

“All possible efforts are being made by farmers and landlords to save their paddy crop, but the green grass of the paddy crop has started drying up,” they said.

“The government should take steps immediately to curb the “leaf curler” attack on the paddy crop so that landowners and farmers could be saved from a great loss,” they demanded.

Canal breach inundates paddy crop

A 50-foot-wide breach in Kakol Canal inundated paddy crops spread over hundreds of acres of land in Mehar.

The locals experience a loss of hundreds of thousands of rupees due to the inundation of crops.

The irrigation department officials did not reach the breach despite receiving the information.

The locals were busy plugging the breach on a self-help basis.
